Documentation on creating connections seems very poor. I cannot find out how to do it. I have two splines which i want to connect with a connection point.

Can someone please explain how to do it?

Select 2 or more control points of a spline and press [Connect] on the left hand Toolbar.
[Connect]  does only appear if it's valid to connect any points.

exactly. Various toolbar options are only shown when basic conditions are met. E.g. CP Tools are visible only when you select CP's etc...
