Bending splines can break the mesh
#1
Hi, Please see the video (WebP) first.

Case. angle 15: https://dotup.org/uploda/dotup.org2644572.webp
Case. angle 30: https://dotup.org/uploda/dotup.org2644574.webp
Case. angle 45: https://dotup.org/uploda/dotup.org2644575.webp

The mesh breaks at angle 45.

The mesh is generated using Curvy Generator, and the spline has 240 CPs.
I have moved the positions of each CP a little bit over time, so that when viewed from the front, the effect is as if you are going down a path over time.

However, if the angle becomes too steep, the mesh will break.
Does the mesh break when it is bent at such a steep angle?

The version we are using is the following.
Unity 2020.3.22f1
Curvy Splines 7.1.6

Hi
It is difficult to judge based on the videos, but I get the impression that the spline twists. Have you tried using different Orientation modes for the spline? https://curvyeditor.com/documentation/splines/curvyspline#orientation
To see the orientation of the spline, activate its gizmo using this: https://curvyeditor.com/documentation/toolbar/start#view_setings
If the issue is not related to the spline's orientation, can you send me a reproduction case so I can see what's wrong?
Thanks, and have a nice day

I set the Orientation mode to None, and now the mesh doesn't break!
Thank you very much.
Now we can continue with the rest of the process.

For reference, the video was for Dynamic mode, but Static mode seems to break in a different way.

I'm not sure what caused it, but I hope this helps others.

Thanks for posting a followup to help others.

I believe that by setting the orientation of the spline's control points, the problem will be solved, but since you don't need said orientation in your use-case, setting the Orientation mode to None is the easiest fix.

Feel free to ask if you have other questions.
If and when you feel like it, please leave a review for the asset, that helps a lot.
Have a nice day
